Housing supply
Mixed; one year of data
The apartment rebound is real, and starts are lumpy. Annual completions against the 6,400 target are the better measure. That series is still needed.
Statement
- Taylor (December 2025): the data shows the Town is “on the right track in delivering more rental, condo, and missing middle housing options.”
- Council target: 6,400 new homes by 2031, against the province’s 12,000, which Taylor called not grounded in reality.
Record
- January–September 2025: 327 condo and 212 rental apartment starts. Rental starts averaged 10 a year in 2021–24.
- Ground-oriented starts were down 95% versus the 2021–24 average.
- The previous report, covering the first half of 2025, showed zero apartment starts and an F.
